These photos from Russian photographer Тарасова Катя are so beautiful! (Sorry, I have no idea how to translate that name into English!) I'm guessing these are of her children, and she has definitely captured some very special moments. Judging by the photographs, I think it would be safe to assume that these children live a very full life with lots of play and time to be children. I hope they inspire you to have some relaxed, unstructured time this weekend!

Allow me to introduce Wall Stories to you. Wall Stories was founded by NYC artist Maria Carluccio and Caron Reeder, who handles the production side of things in her Oregon studio. Maria is an award-winning children's book author and illustrator, and uses paint and beautiful found papers to create the wall decals. What is really unique about these decals is that they are made from eco-friendly adhesive fabric, not vinyl like most other on the market. Have you ever tried putting on or taking off vinyl decals? I have, and it's tricky! Putting on isn't so bad, but taking off? Good luck not ripping it somewhere. But not the Wall Stories decals. Nope. This has got to be the most darling dreamcatcher I've seen - and what a beautiful concept for children. Something to help them feel safe and protected through the night. I think it would be particularly sweet hanging above a crib in a nursery. Designed by Nini la Duchesse - I like her already.
I'm always on the hunt for good art for kid's rooms and these posters from Sugar Snap Studio were so sweet and modern, I immediately wanted to share them with you. I love the collage of fun-loving animals paired with their children friends.
Sometimes those Scandinavians drive me completely crazy. Why does everything they design have to be so perfect and exactly what I wanted without even knowing it? They're just like those Japanese folks. Perfect. Effortlessly, it seems. Enough already. Enough with these perfectly striped rugs in a perfect criss cross I-didn't-try-too-hard ensemble. Moomah had been on my list for a long time of places I wanted to check out with London, so when my sister was in town we made it a point to go. So glad we did! The space was just as wonderful as I had imagined it and the food was delicious. Moomah is the best of all things kids love presented in a calm, natural place that is equally appealing to parents. No bright colors, no dumb kid music, no funky cartoon characters, just simple art projects to make together and healthy food to munch on. Founded by a mother of two who had tried every activity under the sun to keep her family entertained, when she finally realized that what they really needed was a simple place to connect with each other through simple activities. Hello, Moomah. At long last, a restaurant/activity center that is truly kid-friendly and caters to the modern family. Go with or without your kids – either way you'll enjoy it. I was really impressed with the huge menu of fresh local and organic foods to choose from: we tried the homemade hummus platter and organic tater tots. Let's just say I haven't seen London eat that much food in a single sitting in a looong time. Which obviously means it's not a question of if I'll go back, it's a question of when. Sadly the kids were too fidgety after that to really get serious about any art project together, but I would love to try one next time. They had tons of cute ideas! Read more about how Moomah works.

Ok, so it's not really described by CB2 as a dollhouse. But wouldn't this Neville House be adorable as such? I checked it out in person in one of their stores yesterday and it seemed pretty sturdy. Not indestructible, but sturdy. Just throw in a couple of their Reed Chair Christmas ornaments and you've got the perfect modern mini house.
And I'm back! I wish I could say that it was a restful week laughing with my sisters and combing each other's hair but as we parents know, kids don't really allow for such luxuries. At least not in big doses. Most of the week was spent trying to wrangle these two toddlers who seemed hellbent on bickering over every little toy and every inch of space in my tiny apartment. Never again will I wish for twins. Nuh-uh. But it wasn't all time outs and lollipop bribes, no, we did have some pretty good moments. Like apple picking. A favorite tradition among New Yorkers, we too have joined in on the fun and this was our second annual trip out to the orchards. Last year we went to Silverman's Farm in Easton, CT. It was so good we decided to not even check out another orchard this year and went straight back to Silverman's. They have low-hanging apple branches so that even the smallest children can enjoy the satisfaction of picking their own apples, along with a huge petting zoo, country store, and large pumpkin patch. If you're in the area, definitely check it out. We love it so much we may be back again this season...there are so many tasty things you can make with apples! For example our crockpot applesauce we made "for the kids" the next day. Delish.
So my little sister Geneve and her 3-year old son Brooks just flew into NYC today to spend a whole week with us! She is three years younger than me, but everyone thinks she's the older one... that used to make me so mad when we were younger! I am really looking forward to showing her around and having some fun with the kids. London is so so excited to have lots of playtime with her cousin - I love that they are so close in age. Unfortunately for you, this all means that you will not hear from me for the next week! I promise I will be back soon though with lots of pictures of our glorious days together in the city. Stay tuned. In the meantime, you can giggle at this picture of the two of us on our first day of school in California way back when...I remember those little lunch baskets so vividly! (That's me on the right - when I was the taller one. :)
