CREATE: Advent Calendar from Draw!Pilgrim

Despite the fact that I spend the entire months of October and November making these advent calendars, I have yet to do one with London in December! How sad is that? Maybe I am so sick of them by that point, I can't bear to look at another one. :) But these.....holy moly. Tiny little matchboxes with vintage-inspired illustrations on them? Oh wow. Yes. A friend showed it to me and she is coming over today so we can craft them up together -wish us luck! It seems pretty doable, maybe a bit time consuming. The template is available for purchase, then you get to do the printing/cutting/folding/gluing. Super cute!

I am also sort of in love with this simple black one...maybe we will have two in our house this year. :)

LEARN: Educational Centre En El Chaparral

It's fascinating for me to watch as new nursery schools and kindergartens pop up all over the globe with some pretty fantastic designs. There are quite intriguing features on some of them, such as these colored glass windows that create an interesting chromatic effect and help define the spaces throughout the building. The school, which is a public kindergarten, was designed by Spanish architect Alejandro Muñoz Miranda and is located in Granada. What a treat to walk down that rainbow hallway, don't you think?

DISCOVER: Sidewalk Chalk

After a busy morning of hitting some Black Friday sales, we headed over to the park to enjoy some nice temperatures and chalk drawing. For some reason I had been hoarding a ton of this chalk in a cupboard all summer long, and today it finally got put to use. London has been really getting into more art and coloring these days so she spent quite a bit of time drawing her usual "smiley faces" and "barns" – obviously reflective of how much she plays with her wooden toy barn.

DISCOVER: Macy's Day Parade

I usually try to avoid Times Square at all costs, but with the Thanksgiving Macy's Day Parade going on, I was itching to get up there and join in the festivities. Sometimes you just have to join the crowds on the streets and feel the energy that comes to you... This was our second time watching the parade live, but London's first and she loved every second of it. We were on a corner where the parade was turning a corner around a building, so we couldn't see what was coming until it was right there. Each time a float passed, London would say "I need another balloon!" She thought it was great stuff. Later that evening we met up with friends for a beautiful dinner out – a perfect Thanksgiving, in my opinion. :) No shopping for food, no cooking, no clean up, no stress. Just divine. How was your Thanksgiving holiday? 

PLAY: Drawing Tables at Art Exhibit

I really wish these drawing tables were actually in production, but sadly they were only part of an art exhibit at Espace Espinoa-Baignes by Zebra 3. What a treat for creative kiddos!

ENJOY: Screenprints from Sanna Annukka

Sanna's screenprinting skills are no secret. Vogue, Marimekko, Keane, and Apple are all in on it. It seems like all the cool folks want a piece of Sanna. Is it because she has incredibly sexy eyes? Possibly. Is it because she is half Finnish? Getting warmer. Is it because her art is so darn cute and irresistible? Most likely. These bold and graphic designs would be so delightful in a kid's room - I'm especially in love with this one! Sanna draws inspiration from her summers spent in Finland as a child and camping with her family where she was surrounded by forests, lakes and wildlife. I love seeing all of her memories come out in her artwork and am really holding my breath for when her children's picture book comes out that she is currently working on.

OBSERVE: Lii's Room

This is probably one kid's room I'd feel comfortable moving into myself. I love the clean, white lines and the well-lit (and well stocked!) long art table. The pops of green and yellow are really fun and keep the room upbeat and lighthearted, as does the adorable ant wallpaper.

IMAGINE: Waddler

One of my favorite new children's clothing lines is Waddler. I think I'm attracted to their sense of adventure and respect for childhood and it really shows in their clothing and promotional images. Just looking through them makes me want to find a good walking stick and explore - I hope they inspire you to do the same this weekend.

ENJOY: Prints from Pintameldia

One of the artists to add to my ever-growing art wish list: Esti of Pintameldia. Esti is from Bilbao, Spain and Pintameldia is her "creative land." Esti says:  "My art pieces are inspired by nightdreams mostly, while my children artwork is a product of my daydreaming, of my desire of keeping it young at heart. All my characters tend to be shy, cool, calm and collected. No matter if they show up on skateboards, paper, textile, books, pins or t-shirts, they all get my inner dreamy child out of me."

DISCOVER: Lantern Walk

Last week, London's school had a wonderful little lantern walk event. Each child was given their own lantern (with a real candle inside, yes) and then set off on a walk around the garden with their parents. It was pretty magical for the little ones as they proudly carried their lanterns by themselves, lighting the way for all of us. All week, London and I had been admiring this chalk drawing outside of her classroom, done by one of the teachers in anticipation for the walk. This just takes chalkboard drawing to a whole new level, doesn't it??
