IMAGINE: Catching Snowflakes

Has anyone else had snow yet?? It seems as if the whole world is just waiting in suspense for snow to fall. I'm not complaining, but I do sort of miss the magic of looking outside the window and watching it flutter to the ground. I hope this photo inspires you to remember the magic you felt when you experienced your first snowfall.

PLAY: Modular Houses from Play Modern

Sometimes it's the simplest ideas that seem to work the best. Inspired by their children's play with cardboard boxes, Kansas-based parents Kimball and Laura Hales set to work designing a play house that would give all the fun of a cardboard box, but offer more permanence. The result was a group of large flat wooden pieces that fit together in various configurations, allowing flexibility and change when a new structure is desired. Houses can be made as simply as a four-sided cube, or as complex as a two-story bunk bed! Right now they are working on a sandbox and a slide that will click in with the playhouse, as well as a modular kitchen.

PLAY: Handmade Dollhouse

One of my favorite blogs is Varpunen by Suki, a Finnish mother who has a sweet little daughter Varpu. This Christmas must have been a very happy one for Varpu because she was gifted with this incredible handmade dollhouse from her grandparents. I can only imagine the hours and hours they must have spent thinking, planning, collecting and building to create such a special present. Fantastic, no? Ok, so I broke my promise and didn't post these yesterday...but there were so many to go through! Clearly I got a little too excited with my camera wandering around in this store. If there's one thing that ABC Home excels at, it's lavish displays, and the baby & kid section is no exception. I won't even try to explain it too much - I'll just let the pictures do the talking! Hope you enjoy them.

OBSERVE: Elliot's Room

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was very sweet and simple. London really enjoyed opening presents this year and has been quite busy putting some new toys to use. In the meantime, back to normal life for the rest of us – Dad goes back to work today and tomorrow my sister leaves after a four-month stay with us. I will miss her!! For now, I will try to keep myself distracted with images of this bedroom. Boys rooms can be tricky I think, but maybe that is just because I don't have one yet. :) I love all of the carefully selected retro pieces that give the room warmth and character without feeling cluttered.

IMAGINE: Magical Secret Places

There has been lots of fort building at our house the past few days, but this one puts our humble creations to shame. I envy the kid who gets to enjoy playtime in this dreamy homemade tent. I hope it inspires you to create a fort this weekend, just like the ones you did when you were little.
