I first saw Danish-made Maileg products a few months ago while shopping for birthday presents and was instantly taken with their tiny matchbox mice. I've since discovered that there is an entire line of rabbits as well (equally adorable) and a whole line of accessories to accompany them. Perfect for a rabbit house or any other dollhouse!
I'm dying to try out these DIY cardboard furniture designs for kids and have started an admirable stash of cardboard that I've rescued from our building's trash room. Templates are free PDF downloads, complete with estimated time to complete each piece and how much cardboard you will need. Choose from a rocker, a stool or a chair. Love them all!

Although felt is one of the oldest textiles known to man, it is becoming quite popular in the modern home. The texture, functionality and sustainability make it an easy choice for a variety of products and it's no surprise that storage containers are included in the list. Felting is totally possible to do yourself and there are many methods out there to help you get just the look you're going for, but if the whole idea of felting seems totally out of reach, consider these wonderful pieces from Les Enfants du Design. They would make perfect toy bins and I imagine that their beautiful colors and interesting soft texture would be attractive to babies especially. And no need to worry about a bonk on the head with these!
We may have escaped the rain last weekend, but this one doesn't look quite as hopeful...London and I decided to make the most of it this morning by splashing in puddles and testing out her new rain boots. It had been a while since I took any pictures of her outside playing, so this was nice to capture some of her smiles as she enjoyed the magic of a misty morning.
Riikka Kantinkoski is a Finnish designer, photographer and blogger over at Weekday Carnival (one of my favorites!) She always amazes me with her new products and designs. This car mat is such a pretty toy, printed using non-toxic inks on PVC vinyl for durability. London is super into cars and I think this would probably get a lot of play at our house.
Loving so many things about this room for little Mimi in Helsinki, Finland. There are some great handmade touches from the crocheted rug to the homemade swing of Marimekko fabric, and everything seems put together with a lot of love.

As a parent, I'm starting to realize that some of the best toys are the ones that aren't permanent...sometimes a homemade structure or a cardboard box that's only good for a few days (sometimes even a few hours!) is just what my daughter will want to play with the most. These kinds of mini playhouses (created by Ann Wood) are made from bits of popsicle sticks, wood, cardboard and foil and are just the type of thing that would attract all the kids in the neighborhood to come and explore each nook and cranny for as long as possible. Such clever creations!
Just added this book to my ever growing list of Amazon wish list items...doesn't it look fantastic? Sharon Montrose is such a talented animal photographer and her detailed photos are incredibly adorable. Her prints would make perfect nursery decor and her signed book would make a lovely gift.

Madame Lolina is actually Jeong Ah Joo, a very talented artist living in Seoul, South Korea. I love her endearing style and color palette - she has a very lovely and extensive portfolio as well!
Hopefully all the rain we are supposedly going to receive this weekend will give way for a bright and cheery Monday. I love you, sun. Don't go away for too long.
