IMAGINE: Shadows on the Wall

This latest editorial shoot from children's photographer Mélanie Rodriguez and fashion editor Deborah Sfez is just so perfectly dreamy. It was created for Papier Mache magazine and is entitled "In the shadows so you shine."  Do you ever make shadow puppets with your children? I think I am going to have to start after seeing these photos. I'm also now itching to find a stump and paint it glossy white and make big clumps of paper mushrooms! Have a gorgeous weekend!

PLAY: Swings by Milos Todorovic

If there was a way to make playground swings even more appealing to children, industrial designer Milos Todorovic has found it. It's a colorful concept called Curl, and is designed using a mechanical system to increase safety and durability of playground swings. It also replaces chains with metal bars for stability and seats with holes for drainage when it rains - nobody wants a wet swing to play on! I also envision kids trying to scale the curved bar which presents a fun challenge.

I'm really liking these wallpapers for kids - so many to choose from, too! Wallpapers are only part of Onszelf's product line...they also have posters, wall decals, fabric, tablecloths and postcards. Whew!

PLAY: 21 Balançoires

Good morning! I watched this video over the weekend and was completely charmed. 21 Balançoires (21 Swings) is an "exercise in musical cooperation," a public installation posed in front of Université du Québec in Montreal. Each swing triggers different notes and are beautiful on their own, but the best symphonies occur when teamwork is used. I love it! The project is based on the idea that together we achieve better things than separately.

IMAGINE: The Family Pet

Doesn't this picture make you just a little nervous?? Two things that I don't think were ever meant to go together...little girls and alligators. Does your family have a pet? I'm still holding out on bringing animals into the new house/yard but I think a dog might be in our future come Christmas... I'd love to hear about what furry (or scaly!) friends make up part of your family! What do you feel is the best first pet for a child? Better to get something low maintenance like a fish or frog or something they can really play and cuddle with like a cat or dog?

OBSERVE: Room to Play

Definitely one of the best playrooms I've seen in a while! This room is part of a home designed by German architecture firm  X Architekten. Called the Yug House, it is home to two children and their parents and is the creative reinterpretation of a former barn. Looks like the perfect place to raise two growing boys!

ENJOY: Enchanted Forest Series from Steiff

I must preface this post by saying that these stuffed animals from Steiff are not designed as toys for littles. Finely crafted for the serious collector, they are not intended to be played with, but perhaps placed on a high shelf or dresser in the nursery? Just be prepared for their high price tag as well. Anyhow, I think they are lovely.

SLEEP: Lulu Cradle

Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We had a lazy time going furniture shopping (found a new couch at an awesome price for the bonus room!) and enjoyed a lovely picnic in the park. I am amazed at the weather we have been having - clear skies, sun, temperatures in the 70s. Only one day of rain since we've arrived!

I love this beautiful cradle which is being reproduced as part of a limited numbered edition of 200 pieces. It was originally designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1963 and manufactured by Danish company Brdr. Krüger. A wonderful piece made to last the test of time and definitely an heirloom piece. Also take a peek at their rocking horse - need it bad!
